Fall 2010 Apprentice Program(AP)

This 18 session program, taught over a period of five months, includes a comprehensive medicinal herb program that will acquaint you with approximately 200 plants, their actions and how we can best make them our true green friends.

Classes will meet on Fridays from 10:00am – 4:00pm beginning Friday, September 17th, 2010. There will be breaks during the holidays and will likely conclude in mid-February.

 

The AP will entail a five month commitment from all participants.  We will meet once a week for a full day class.  Participants are asked to bring a pot-luck dish to share. Each class includes:

§  fresh herbal teas, made from the plants we are studying during that week

§  herbal snacks

§  informative handouts

§  herbal glossary

§  charts and additional helpful printed materials.

Note:    The first class, as well as a few other sessions, will be open for individual students who are not participating in the entire AP. Please contact Ellen at Ellen@ezherbs.net for the weekly schedule and to find out if an individual class session is accepting students. The apprentice Program ( AP) will be a comprehensive study of herbalism including:

We will learn a Materia Medica of approximately 200 herbs and study these according to their corresponding bodily system.  These systems include:

 The  Fall work study program is full.  Please contact Ellen to be considered for the Spring '12 work study program.

Work Study Opportunity

The first 2 students to enroll are eligible to participate in the EZ Herbs Apprentice Work/Study program.  This entitles you to pay ½ of the tuition ($675) and work off the balance by working in my herb shop/garden at the rate of $10.00 an hour.  The W/S participant is expected to work 5 hours each week to fulfill their commitment, with some breaks, of course.

  • Herbal First Aid and how to create and use herbs from your backyard Pharmacy

  • Learn how to determine high quality herbs and where to purchase them.

  • Herbs for Children

  • Herbs for Pets

  • Discover the lovely practice of using Natural Cosmetics – learn how to create products perfect for any skin type.-A day of Beauty!

  • In-depth study on Herbs for Women’s Health; adolescence, child-bearing years, pregnancy, peri-menopause and menopause

  • Herbs for Men

  • Herbal Formulation

  • A review of complementary disciplines including Aromatherapy, Homeopathy, Chinese Medicine, Aryuvedic Medicine, Flower Essences, Yoga and Meditation

  • Seasonal Health Issues; winter herbs. Herbs for allergies.

  • Preventive Health Care- Learn to create a Personal Health Program

  • How to Create a Medicinal Herb Garden-including an Organic Gardening program: planting seeds, transplants, vegetables, herbs, flowers, fertilizing and more.  NOTE:  Students are always welcome to take cuttings, plants and trees that grow abundantly in my garden.

  • Legal issues concerning Herbalism

  • Resources: for supplies, seed catalogues, local nurseries, books, organizations, etc.

  • Field Trips to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, the Natural Gardener and other Herbal Events

  • Weekly quizzes, homework assignments and student projects

Fees

The five month Apprentice Program is $1350.00.  This Fall price is a 25% discount from the Spring 2010 AP.

You may take advantage of Early Bird Registration prior to August 27th and have an additional discount with your registration totaling $1200.00.
